I'm thinking about getting either an Intel Core i7-12700KF or a Core i5-13600KF for my next build, but I can't decide. Any advice on which to choose?
Intel Core i7-12700KF vs. i5-13600KF - Overclocking and Comparison?

Both CPUs have excellent support for overclocking and DDR5. The i7-12700KF has more performance cores and a higher base P-core frequency than the i5-13600KF.
According to this TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-13600KF vs. Intel Core i7-12700KF, the i7-12700KF also has more L3 cache, which could be beneficial for some applications. However, the i5-13600KF still offers good performance overall, especially if you're on a budget.
Thanks for the information, @ejacublake. I didn't know about the difference in cache sizes. How does that affect performance?
The L3 cache is used to store frequently accessed data temporarily, so having more cache can speed up your system by reducing the need for slower memory accesses.
I've been using an i7-12700KF for a few months now and it's served me well. The extra cores and cache have really helped with multitasking and heavy workloads.
That's great to hear, @Chreativ. But what about gaming? I mostly play games on my computer.
For gaming, both CPUs should provide good to excellent performance depending on the game and GPU. The single-core max turbo boost frequency of both CPUs is excellent for gaming, as is their support for overclocking and PCIe 5.0. Ultimately, it may come down to personal preference and budget constraints.
I see. Thanks everyone for your input. I'll have to think about it some more before making a decision.
No problem, @partygato. Take your time and make sure you're getting the right CPU for your needs. Good luck with your build!
