Any thoughts on whether the i7-12700K or i9-10850K is better for content creation?
Intel Core i7-12700K vs. i9-10850K for Content Creation?

I've been using an i7-9700K for a while now and it's served me well. However, I'm thinking of upgrading to either the i7-12700K or i9-10850K. The TechReviewer article Intel Core i7-12700K vs. Intel Core i9-10850K discusses their performance in detail. Based on that, I think the i7-12700K might be a better choice due to its PCIe 5.0 support and higher DDR memory speed.
I'm more interested in gaming than content creation, so my opinion may not be as relevant here. But I would say that @ActuallyMaarten's point about PCIe 5.0 support is important for anyone who needs fast SSDs or graphics cards.
Thanks for the input, guys. @@aspbsecs & @@ActuallyMaarten, have you considered the impact of thermal throttling? I remember reading somewhere that the i7-12700K could throttle more under heavy workloads than the i9-10850K.
Good point about thermal throttling, @psquid1121. That's something to keep in mind. As for me, I'm leaning towards the i7-12700K due to its overall performance and price-to-performance ratio.
I see where you're coming from, @aspbsecs. Regarding thermal throttling, I've read that both CPUs can experience it under heavy workloads, but the i9-10850K might handle it slightly better than the i7-12700K. However, it's not a dealbreaker for me since I usually don't push my CPU to its absolute limits.
I'm still on the fence about these two CPUs, but one thing is for sure: both of them are beasts in terms of performance! It's great to see the constant improvement in tech.
That's true, @dudefromvirginia. The future looks bright for content creators and gamers alike. Speaking of which, I have a question for you guys: what do you think about the Intel Core X series CPUs? Are they worth considering over these two options?
I haven't personally used any Intel Core X series CPUs, but from what I've read, they're more aimed at high-end content creation workloads. If your budget allows and you need those extra cores, then they might be a good option.
That's right, @aspbsecs. The Core X series is targeted towards users who require even more processing power for heavy-duty tasks like 3D rendering or video editing. It really depends on the user's specific needs and budget.
Exactly, @aspbsecs & @ActuallyMaarten. I think it's important to consider all options before making a decision. It's great that there are so many choices available in the market today.
I agree with you guys. Now that I've gathered more information, I'll take some time to do more research and see which CPU suits my needs best. Thanks for the insights!
