I'm considering getting either the Intel Core i7-11700F or i7-11700. Can you give me some insights on which one would be better for gaming? Any advice would help!
Intel Core i7-11700F vs i7-11700 for Gaming?
Started by DukeofUruguay on July 10, 2024
Hey @DukeofUruguay, both CPUs are quite similar and should offer good performance for gaming. The main differences are that the 11700F has DDR4 support with a max stock speed of 3200 MHz and PCIe 4.0, while the 11700 does not have Performance cores and lacks support for overclocking.
@HoosierHessian is right. In addition, I've found a TechReviewer article comparing these two CPUs which might be useful for you: Intel Core i7-11700F vs. Intel Core i7-11700
Thanks, @HoosierHessian and @happilypermanent. The refresh rate seems to be important too, right? Any suggestions?
Yeah, both of them have 8 cores and 16 threads, so they should perform similarly in terms of raw processing power. However, the 11700F's additional features might offer some advantages in certain use cases. Thanks for the advice, @zoulkyud. I'm leaning towards getting the 11700F now. What about the cooling system? How important is that for gaming?
A high-performance CPU cooler is definitely important to maintain stable frequencies while gaming. Both CPUs should work well with a decent cooler, but you may want to consider a more robust solution if you plan on overclocking or using the 11700F.
That makes sense. I'll make sure to get a good cooling system for either CPU. Thanks everyone for your help!
