Intel Core i7-11700F vs 10700KF: Best for Gaming?

Started by fixedforlife on May 03, 2024

I recently bought an Intel CPU and I'm trying to decide whether the Core i7-11700F or Core i7-10700KF is better for gaming. Can you guys share any insights on which one performs better in games?

@GameBoyAde I have done some research on this topic and found an article on TechReviewer that compares these two CPUs in detail. You can check it out here: Intel Core i7-11700F vs. Intel Core i7-10700KF. It might help you make a more informed decision.

@fixedforlife Both of those CPUs offer excellent gaming performance, but there are some differences between them. For instance, the 11700F has a base frequency of 2.50 GHz and a single-core max turbo boost frequency of 4.90 GHz, while the 10700KF has a base frequency of 3.80 GHz and a single-core max turbo boost frequency of 5.10 GHz. The 11700F also supports PCIe 4.0, whereas the 10700KF supports PCIe 3.0.

That's interesting! So, the 10700KF has a higher base and turbo boost frequencies, which should result in better gaming performance, right? However, I heard that the 11700F also doesn't support overclocking like the 10700KF does.

@Mindful95 Yes, that's correct. The lack of overclocking support on the 11700F might be a downside for some users who want to push their CPU performance even further. But if you're looking for stability and don't mind not being able to overclock, the 11700F should still provide great gaming experience.

Solution

@furiouspillows Thanks for sharing the link! Based on your information, as well as what others have said here, should I go for the 11700F or the 10700KF for gaming?

@fixedforlife It really depends on your personal preferences and needs. If you want a CPU with higher base and turbo boost frequencies and don't mind the possibility of overclocking, the 10700KF might be a better choice. On the other hand, if you prefer stability and don't plan to overclock, the 11700F should work great for gaming.

@shemsheep I see. So, it sounds like either CPU would be good for gaming, but the 10700KF might have an edge due to its higher frequencies and potential for overclocking. Thanks for your advice!

@fixedforlife Exactly! Just make sure you get a high-performance cooler since both CPUs generate a lot of heat when running at their max turbo frequencies.

@Mindful95 Good point, @Mindful95. A good cooler is essential to keep the CPU cool and maintain stable performance during gaming sessions.
