Intel Core i7-11700 vs. 10700F Differences?

Started by KodiakIsBack on May 18, 2024

I've been looking at some new CPUs and came across the Intel Core i7-11700 and Core i7-10700F. Does anyone know what the main differences are between them?

Hi, @KodiakIsBack! Both of those processors are part of Intel's 11th generation line-up. The main differences between them are in their base frequencies, DDR support, PCIe versions, and single-core max turbo boost frequencies. Have you checked out TechReviewer's article on this topic? Solution

Thanks for the info, @Dajosada. I read the article you mentioned, but it didn't go into detail about which one is better overall. Can anyone recommend one based on their experience?

Hey @KodiakIsBack, in my experience, the Intel Core i7-11700 offers better overall performance due to its faster base and turbo boost frequencies, as well as its support for PCIe 4.0. However, it really depends on your specific needs and budget.

That's true, @fawkesfire. For me, I've been using the Core i7-10700F for a while now, and it works great for my purposes. It might not have as high of a turbo frequency or PCIe version, but it's more affordable.

Another factor to consider is overclocking support. Neither CPU supports overclocking, so performance can't be improved in that manner. But it's still something to keep in mind when comparing the two.

Thanks for all the input, guys! I'll have to think about my options and see which one fits my needs better. It seems like the i7-11700 might be the way to go for me, but I'm not sure yet. Any recommendations based on your experiences with these CPUs?

@KodiakIsBack, I'd recommend trying out both if you can. They're both great CPUs and you won't be disappointed with either choice. Just make sure you have a good cooler and enough RAM to go along with whichever one you choose.

Agreed, @Dajosada. And don't forget about the importance of your GPU in conjunction with your CPU. A better CPU won't always result in better gaming performance if your GPU can't keep up.

Yeah, @fawkesfire, that's a good point. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and what you need for your specific use case. Good luck making your decision!

I appreciate the advice and will definitely keep all these factors in mind as I make my choice.
