I'm in the market for a new CPU and I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i7-10700KF and the i5-10600KF. Can anyone provide some insights or recommendations based on their experience?

Thanks for the input! I've been researching a bit, and according to TechReviewer's article Intel Core i7-10700KF vs. Intel Core i5-10600KF, both CPUs have good overclocking potential and support for DDR4 memory. However, the i7-10700KF offers excellent overall performance but its L3 cache and PCIe support are considered mediocre compared to the i5-10600KF.

Both CPUs are great, but if you're looking for more processing power for demanding workloads, the i7-10700KF might be a better choice. The i5-10600KF is suitable for general use and gaming.

Solution

That makes sense! So, if I'm someone who mostly plays games and does some video editing on the side, would you recommend going for the i7 or the i5?

If gaming is your primary concern, the i5-10600KF might be a better fit due to its higher base frequency and better PCIe support. However, if you frequently work with high-resolution videos or large files, the extra cores of the i7-10700KF could come in handy.

I've been using an i7-9700K for quite some time now, and I can say that its performance is outstanding. The additional cores really make a difference when working with large video files or running multiple virtual machines.

that's helpful! So, if I were to go with the i7-10700KF, would it be worth sacrificing better PCIe support for extra processing power?

It depends on your specific needs. If you need the additional processing power and don't mind the mediocre PCIe support, then the i7-10700KF could be a good choice. However, if you want better PCIe support to potentially upgrade your GPU in the future, the i5-10600KF might be more suitable.

Another factor to consider is overclocking potential. Both CPUs have good potential for overclocking, but the i7-10700KF's 8 cores allow for excellent performance overall. This could also be a deciding factor if you're looking to push your CPU to its limits.

Great points! Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I'll do more research and see which one aligns better with my budget and usage requirements. Appreciate all the insights!
