Intel Core i5-14600KF vs. Intel Core i3-14100 - Better Gaming CPU?

Started by Balyynker on June 21, 2024

I've been looking at the Intel Core i5-14600KF and the Intel Core i3-14100 for my next build. Can anyone share their thoughts on which one is better for gaming?

Yeah, I've also done a bit of research. There's an article comparing these two CPUs on TechReviewer. It really helped me make my decision. Intel Core i5-14600KF vs. Intel Core i3-14100

Both are decent choices, but I have used the i5-14600KF in my own build and it's been great! The performance difference is noticeable.

Solution

That's good to hear! So the i5-14600KF has better overclocking support and DDR5 max stock speed of 5600 MHz, right?

Exactly! And it also has a higher single-core max turbo boost frequency of 5.30 GHz compared to the i3-14100's 4.70 GHz.

I've been using an i3 for years and it's served me well, but if I were building a new system today, I'd go with the i5-14600KF based on these specs.

Thanks for the advice! So, do you think the extra cores in the i5-14600KF would be beneficial for most games?

Most modern games don't benefit from having more than 6-8 cores. So the extra cores in the i5-14600KF won't make a huge difference in gaming performance.

That's interesting! I guess it really depends on the specific game and how well it's optimized for CPU usage.

Yeah, good point. I'll definitely check out that TechReviewer article again to get more insights. Thanks for all your input!

No problem! Good luck with your build!
