Has anyone tried using an Intel Core i5-13600KF or i7-12700 for gaming? I'm curious about the performance differences between these two.

Yeah, I've been using the i5-13600KF and it's worked great so far! The single-core max turbo boost frequency is 5.10 GHz, which seems to provide good game performance overall. Here's a link to an article that gives an overview of both CPUs: Intel Core i5-13600KF vs. Intel Core i7-12700.
That's helpful, thanks @msoffices. I'm also wondering about the number of cores and other factors that might affect gaming performance.
The i5-13600KF has 14 core counts with a base P-Core frequency of 3.50 GHz, while the i7-12700 has 12 core counts with a base P-Core frequency of 2.10 GHz. Both CPUs support DDR5, but the i5-13600KF has a max stock speed of 5600 MHz compared to the i7-12700's 4800 MHz. In terms of PCIe, both have support for PCIe 5.0.
That's interesting, @mbarrado. So it sounds like the i5-13600KF might be a good choice for gaming, but I'm not sure if that means I should overlook the i7-12700 completely.
It really depends on the specific game and your budget. The i7-12700 has a slightly lower single-core max turbo boost frequency at 4.90 GHz, which can still provide excellent game performance overall. If you have the budget for it, I'd say go for the one that suits your needs best.
I agree with @Bullenbeisser. Ultimately, both CPUs are capable of delivering great gaming experiences. It's more about finding the right balance between price and performance for your specific use case.
Thanks for the input everyone. I think I'll do some more research and see which one fits my needs better. @msoffices’s article was a great starting point, though!
