I'm looking for some advice on choosing between the Intel Core i5-13600KF and i5-9600K for my upcoming build. I've been reading some comparisons, but it's hard to decide which one would be better for my needs. Any recommendations?

Hi @wayfayrer! So you're looking at the Intel Core i5-13600KF vs. the i5-9600K? I've read a TechReviewer article about these two CPUs that could help you make your decision. Check it out Intel Core i5-13600KF vs. Intel Core i5-9600K. It compares their core types, core counts, frequencies, cache capacities, and other features in detail.
Thanks for sharing, @LarsofArcana! I'll definitely take a look at the link you provided. Just to give you an idea of what I plan to use these CPUs for, I mostly play competitive shooters, some AAA titles, and I'm also into streaming occasionally. Do you have any recommendations based on my usage?
@wayfayrer, both of those CPUs would be great for gaming, but the 13600KF has more cores and higher turbo frequencies which could give you an edge in competitive shooters. The extra cores can also help with multitasking or if you decide to dabble in content creation later on.
@wayfayrer, I agree with @kornchic. However, if you have a smaller budget or a tighter space constraint, the i5-9600K might be more suitable for you. It still offers good performance and has better color accuracy, which can be beneficial when playing visually rich games like Cyberpunk 2077.
That's really helpful advice from both of you! I'm leaning towards the 13600KF because of its higher turbo frequencies and extra cores, but I'm also concerned about the heat output. Does anyone have experience with either CPU in terms of thermal performance?
@wayfayrer, I've used the i5-9600K for a while now and haven't had any issues with overheating or throttling, even when playing demanding games for extended periods. The stock cooler is quite effective.
@wayfayrer, the 13600KF also has good thermal performance, but it does produce more heat due to its higher frequencies. If you're worried about heat output, you might want to consider a high-quality air cooler or even liquid cooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Great points from everyone! I think I'll go with the 13600KF based on your advice. Thanks for the link, @LarsofArcana, it was really helpful in making my decision. Now I just need to find a good CPU cooler...
Excellent choice, @wayfayrer! The 13600KF should serve you well for your gaming and streaming needs. Good luck finding a suitable cooler!
I'm glad you found the link useful, @wayfayrer. Remember to keep an eye on the stock speeds, cache sizes, and other specifications when selecting a CPU cooler to ensure compatibility.
