I'm looking to build a new gaming PC and I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i5-13500 and the Intel Core i9-12900KF. Can you give me some insights?

It really depends on your budget and specific use cases. There's a good article with an overview of both CPUs at Intel Core i5-13500 vs. Intel Core i9-12900KF. You might find it helpful.

Sure! The i9-12900KF generally outperforms the i5-13500 due to its higher core counts, better L3 cache size, and more efficient overclocking capabilities. However, it's also more expensive.

That makes sense. I guess if I want the best performance for gaming, I should go for the i9-12900KF then?

Thanks for sharing that link,@flatrat1. I'll definitely check it out. But what about the single-core turbo frequency? Does that matter much in gaming?

It does matter, as single-core performance is crucial for gaming. The i9-12900KF has a higher single-core max turbo boost frequency than the i5-13500, which could give you better performance in games that are more CPU-intensive.

Alright, but what about overclocking? Is it something I should consider for my build?

Overclocking can definitely help improve performance, but it also adds complexity to your build and requires a good cooling solution. The i9-12900KF supports overclocking while the i5-13500 does not.

Interesting! Well, I guess I'll have to think about whether I'm willing to deal with the added complexity of overclocking for my build. Thanks everyone!

No problem,@Grussles. Good luck with your decision and your new gaming PC!

Same here. Remember that it ultimately comes down to your personal preferences and needs. Good luck!
