I'm looking to upgrade my gaming PC and I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i5-13500 and the i9-12900. Can anyone provide some insight on which one would be better for gaming?

Both CPUs offer great performance, but if you want a little more power, go with the i9-12900. It has slightly higher base and turbo frequencies, which can make a difference in certain games.
@linjackchen, it really depends on your budget and what other components you're pairing with these CPUs. I'd recommend checking out this TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-13500 vs. Intel Core i9-12900 for a more detailed comparison. The i5-13500 is a great option if you're looking for a balance between price and performance, but the i9-12900 could offer slightly better gaming experience in some scenarios.
@DamionYoung, thanks for the link! I read through it and it was really helpful. It seems like both CPUs are quite similar in terms of gaming performance, but the i9-12900 does edge out the i5-13500 in certain games that demand higher single-core frequencies.
@baboon29, yeah, that's what I've been hearing from other friends who game as well. It seems like the i9-12900 might be worth the extra cost for some titles. But at the same time, the i5-13500 is still a beast and would probably be enough for most games.
@linjackchen, that's true. The difference in performance between these two CPUs isn't huge, so if you're on a tighter budget, the i5-13500 is definitely a great choice. Just make sure to pair it with a good GPU, and you should be good to go!
@atodamaquina, absolutely! A good GPU is key for gaming performance. The i5-13500 will handle most games just fine as long as you've got a decent graphics card.
Thanks everyone for the input! I appreciate it. I'll definitely keep these points in mind while making my decision.
