I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and am trying to decide between the Intel Core i5-13400F and i5-12600K. Has anyone had experience with these or can recommend one over the other for gaming?
Intel Core i5-13400F vs. i5-12600K for Gaming?

Yeah, both are great options! The main differences lie in their base frequencies, single-core turbo frequencies, and overclocking capabilities. Intel Core i5-13400F vs. Intel Core i5-12600K offers a detailed comparison of the two.
Thanks, @vangogeo. I was looking at those factors because my current CPU is struggling with some recent games. What about the Core i5-13400F's lack of overclocking support? Would that be a significant drawback for gaming?
It might not be a dealbreaker for gaming, but it would limit your potential performance upgrade if you plan on doing any future overclocking or system benchmarking.
I've been using the i5-12600K for a few months now, and it's performed great in games. The higher base frequency and turbo boost definitely make a difference, especially in graphically demanding titles.
Thanks for sharing your experience, @Maestr001. It sounds like the extra turbo boost on the i5-12600K really helps with those more demanding games. But what about the difference in core count? Does that have any noticeable impact?
The increased core count can be beneficial up to a point, but most modern games don't benefit from having more than 6-8 cores. So for gaming purposes, both CPUs should offer similar performance.
That's helpful to know, @effervescentadolesce. I guess it comes down to whether or not I want the option to overclock in the future. Any advice on cooling solutions that would work well with either CPU?
A high-end air cooler should suffice for both CPUs under normal conditions. However, if you're planning on overclocking, you might want to consider a liquid cooling solution for better heat dissipation.
Another thing to consider is the price difference between the two. The i5-13400F might be more affordable, which could be a factor depending on your budget and priorities.
Thanks everyone for the input! I'll do some more research and see if the additional turbo boost on the i5-12600K makes it worth the extra cost for me. Appreciate all the advice!
