I've used both the Core i5-13400 and i9-12900 for video editing, and I must say that the i9-12900 performs significantly better. The higher core count, larger L3 cache, and faster base and turbo frequencies make it more suitable for handling the multitasking and computational demands of professional tools and applications.
@coldblow85, thank you for sharing your experience! I was looking at the TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-13400 vs. Intel Core i9-12900 that compares these CPUs. It seems like the i9-12900 is indeed a better choice for video editing based on its performance.
@AlchemistXX, yes, it's great to have some real-world insight! The i9-12900 does seem like the better option for my needs. I'll check out that TechReviewer article you mentioned for more detailed comparisons.
Both the Core i5-13400 and i9-12900 are excellent CPUs, but if you're heavily into video editing or require a lot of processing power, I'd recommend going with the i9-12900. It's worth investing in a bit more powerful CPU if it means better performance for your projects.
@Mazekitty Absolutely! The i9-12900's superior specs definitely translate to better performance in video editing tasks, so it's a great choice if you can afford it. Just make sure to pair it with a good GPU and sufficient RAM for optimal results.
@coldblow85, thanks for the advice! I'll definitely keep that in mind when building my setup. The i9-12900 seems like a solid investment for my video editing needs.
