Intel Core i5-12600KF vs. i7-11700K Gaming Performance Comparison?

Started by jrouse2011 on July 11, 2024

I've been looking at the Intel Core i5-12600KF and Intel Core i7-11700K for my new gaming PC build. Can you tell me which one would be better for gaming?

I've been researching and I found a good article that compares these two CPUs in more detail. Check it out if you want to learn more about their differences: Intel Core i5-12600KF vs. Intel Core i7-11700K.

Yeah, it depends on your budget and specific needs. Both CPUs are great options. The main difference is that the i7 has a higher single-core turbo frequency and more efficient use of resources.

I think the i5-12600KF supports DDR5 with a max stock speed of 4800 MHz while the i7-11700K supports DDR4 with a max stock speed of 3200 MHz. That could make a difference in gaming performance too.

Thanks for the info! How about thermal performance? I'm building a custom PC, so cooling might be an issue.

Both CPUs should have similar thermal performance, but you'll need a high-end cooler to maintain their frequencies. The i5-12600KF has 10 cores and 20 MB L3 cache while the i7-11700K has 8 cores and 16 MB L3 cache. This could affect multitasking and heavy workloads.

Oh, wow! Thanks for sharing that link, @smurfinq1! I'll definitely check it out. It seems like the i7-11700K has an edge when it comes to gaming performance, but the i5-12600KF isn't far behind.

That's helpful to know. I think I'll go with the i7-11700K for my build then. Thanks for your help everyone!

No problem, @jrouse2011! Good luck with your PC build and let us know how it turns out!

Same here! Enjoy building your new rig, @jrouse2011.
