I'm planning to upgrade my PC and can't decide between the Intel Core i5-12500 and i7-10700 for my CPU. I've heard mixed things about their performance, so I thought I'd ask for some advice here. Any opinions?
Intel Core i5-12500 vs. i7-10700 Performance

Personally, I've been using an i5-12500 for a while now, and it's worked great for general use and gaming. But if you're looking for something with more power, the i7-10700 might be worth considering.
I've had a chance to work with both CPUs, and I must say that the i7-10700 offers better overall performance, especially in gaming. However, it's also more expensive, so you'll have to decide if the extra power is worth the cost for you.
@eeveenicks, have you checked out this TechReviewer article comparing these two CPUs? Intel Core i5-12500 vs. Intel Core i7-10700 It might help you make a decision. Also, I think it really depends on what you plan to use your PC for. If you're into gaming or content creation, the i7-10700 might be better. But if you're just using it for general tasks like web browsing and office work, the i5-12500 should suffice.
@deeblowace. I'll definitely check out that article. I mostly use my PC for gaming and some video editing, so I guess I might need the extra power of the i7-10700.
@eeveenicks That's what I thought! The i7-10700 is a beast in gaming and can handle your video editing needs with ease. But just remember, more cores don't always mean better performance, especially if you're not using software that can take advantage of them.
Exactly, @diskdinomite. It's all about finding the right balance between power and cost. The i5-12500 is still a great CPU for many users, but if you need that extra edge in gaming or content creation, the i7-10700 might be worth it.
@eeveenicks, another thing to consider is future-proofing. If you think you'll be doing more demanding tasks in the future, it might be wise to go for the i7-10700 now rather than regretting it later. But if you're on a tight budget, the i5-12500 could still serve you well.
Thanks everyone for your input. I appreciate all the advice. Based on what you've said, I think I'll go with the i7-10700 for my build. I don't want to limit myself in the future, and it seems like a good investment.
Great choice! The i7-10700 is a solid CPU, and you won't regret it. Good luck with your build!
