I'm looking at getting a new CPU for my gaming rig and I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i5-12400F and the i5-9600KF. Anyone have any experience or recommendations?

I've been using the i5-12400F for a while now, and it's been working great! The performance is excellent, especially for gaming. Have you checked out this TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-12400F vs. Intel Core i5-9600KF? It has an in-depth comparison between these two CPUs.
Thanks for sharing that link, @MathRamp. I was unaware of the differences between the two processors. According to the article, the i5-12400F has a higher single-core max turbo boost frequency and supports PCIe 5.0, which seems like it would be beneficial for gaming.
Yeah, I've been using an i5-9600KF for quite some time now, and while it gets the job done, it does feel a bit underwhelming compared to my friend's i5-12400F system. The faster boost frequency of the 12400F really makes a difference.
I've been doing more research on these two CPUs, and it seems like the 12400F's DDR5 support with a max stock speed of 4800 MHz could also be a significant advantage for gaming performance.
You guys are making me lean towards the i5-12400F. But I'm still not sure if the extra cost is worth it. Any thoughts on that?
That's a valid concern, @CptRavioli. The 12400F does seem to have better specifications on paper, but you'll also need to consider factors like budget and your specific use case.
I think the i5-12400F is worth it for the extra performance, especially if you're a serious gamer. But if you're not planning on upgrading anytime soon or don't need that extra power, then the i5-9600KF might be sufficient.
I agree with @MathRamp. It really depends on your needs and budget. If you can afford it and you're looking for the best possible performance, go for the 12400F. Otherwise, the 9600KF should still give you decent results.
Exactly! You can't go wrong with either choice, but if you want to future-proof your system a bit more, the i5-12400F might be the better option.
Alright, thanks everyone for your input. I'll think about it some more and make my decision. I appreciate all the advice!
