I've been researching CPUs for my new computer build and came across the Intel Core i5-12400 and i9-11900. Both seem to have some great features, but I'm not sure which one would be better for multitasking. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
Intel Core i5-12400 vs. i9-11900 for Multitasking?

The main difference between the two CPUs is in their core counts and thread numbers. The Core i5-12400 has 6 cores with 12 threads, while the Core i9-11900 has 8 cores and 16 threads. For multitasking, a higher number of cores and threads can help since they allow your computer to handle more tasks simultaneously.
You're right about the core counts, @cottonmouthbob. According to this TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-12400 vs. Intel Core i9-11900, the Core i5-12400 is better suited for users who don't need many simultaneous applications running. However, if you plan on using multiple resource-intensive programs at once, the Core i9-11900 would be a better choice due to its higher core count.
Thanks for the info @LordNemra. I mostly run graphic design and video editing software, so I assume those are resource-intensive. Should I go with the i9-11900 then?
That's definitely a consideration, @MetaKnightmareX. Graphic design and video editing programs can be quite demanding on your CPU. The Core i9-11900 should handle those tasks better due to its higher core count. However, you might also want to think about the cost difference between the two CPUs.
I've been using a Core i5-12400 for a while now and it's been working great for my needs. The performance is more than enough for general use and some light multitasking. If your budget allows, the i9-11900 might be worth it for more demanding tasks, but I wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary.
Good to know @8-bit-chip. Since most of my work will involve video editing and graphic design, do you think I'd notice a significant difference in performance between the two?
That TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-12400 vs. Intel Core i9-11900 I mentioned earlier suggests that for professional use cases like video editing or graphic design, the Core i9-11900 would likely provide better performance due to its higher core count and thread numbers. However, it also depends on your specific software and how well it can utilize multiple cores.
Thanks for all the help everyone! I'll do some more research and see if I can find any reviews or comparisons of these two CPUs in action. Hopefully, that will give me a better idea of which one to choose.
Same here, good luck! And don't forget to check out the TechReviewer article I mentioned earlier if you want more details on these CPUs.
