I'm looking to build a new gaming PC and I'm having trouble deciding between the Intel Core i5-12400 and i7-10700F. Can anyone share their thoughts on which one is better for gaming?

I recently built a new system with the i5-12400, and I must say it's been fantastic! The performance has been great, especially when playing fast-paced games like Apex Legends. The resolution is also immersive. Check out this TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-12400 vs. Intel Core i7-10700F for more insights. In my experience, the i5-12400 delivers better performance overall due to its superior single-core boost frequency and support for newer technologies.

Thanks for the input! I'm also considering space on my desk since it's quite small. The LG monitor I'm eyeing requires less desktop real estate. Would you recommend any other monitors that are more compact?

The i7-10700F has a larger L3 cache and better base frequency, which can be beneficial for some games. However, the i5-12400's higher single-core turbo boost frequency offers great performance for most gaming scenarios. If you're concerned about space on your desk, you might want to consider a smaller form factor CPU cooler as well.

That's helpful! What do you think about overclocking capabilities? Are there any major differences between the two CPUs in that regard?

Both the i5-12400 and i7-10700F lack support for overclocking, which means you won't be able to push their performance beyond their factory settings. This is something to keep in mind if you're looking to squeeze out every bit of performance possible.

Thanks for the information! I think I'll go with the i5-12400 based on your experience and the TechReviewer article. However, I'm still unsure about the monitor. Can anyone recommend some compact monitors that would work well with a small desk space?

I've used both the LG 38GL950G-B and Samsung Odyssey G9, and they're both fantastic! The LG monitor has better color accuracy, while the Samsung monitor offers an ultra-wide screen for more immersive gameplay. Both are great choices if you have enough space on your desk. If you still want a compact option, consider the Dell Alienware AW3420DW, which is smaller but still provides excellent performance and visuals.

That's really helpful! Thank you all for sharing your experiences and insights. I'll definitely take some time to research more about these monitors before making a decision. Good luck with your gaming setups, everyone!
