I recently purchased an Intel CPU and I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i5-12400 and i5-11600K. Can anyone provide insights on which is better for gaming?

Both CPUs offer good gaming performance, but the i5-11600K has better overclocking support and L3 cache capacity. Here's a detailed comparison on TechReviewer Intel Core i5-12400 vs. Intel Core i5-11600K.

@LathanumFort Thanks for the link! I'm more concerned about future-proofing my CPU for gaming. If I were to choose between these two, which one would you recommend?

If your main concern is future-proofing, then the i5-12400 might be a better choice due to its support for DDR5 and PCIe 5.0. However, it lacks overclocking capabilities which could limit some performance improvements down the line.

@antiquee That's an important point about overclocking. What do you think about the L3 cache capacities of these two CPUs?

I personally own an i5-12400 and I can vouch for its great gaming experience, especially with fast-paced games like Overwatch. The higher DDR5 memory support is definitely a plus.

@makeherblush I think both CPUs will serve you well for gaming, but it ultimately depends on your specific needs and budget. If you want to future-proof and don't mind the lack of overclocking, go for the i5-12400. But if you're looking for better overclocking support, go with the i5-11600K.

@shemsheep Thanks everyone for your insights! I'll take some time to think about it before making a decision.

No problem @makeherblush, just make sure whatever you choose has a good return policy in case you change your mind later on. Good luck with your decision!
