I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i5-11400 and the i5-10600K for my next build, but I'm particularly interested in multi-threading performance. Can anyone provide some insight on which is better in this aspect?
Intel Core i5-11400 vs. 10600K Multi-Threading Performance?

Both the i5-11400 and the i5-10600K have a similar core count and thread count, but the 10600K has a higher base frequency and a faster single-core turbo boost frequency. This should make it better for single-threaded tasks, but I'm not sure how this affects multi-threading performance.
To add to what @Danny0402 said, the TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-11400 vs. Intel Core i5-10600K provides a detailed comparison of these two CPUs in various aspects, including multi-threading performance. It's worth checking out if you're still on the fence about your decision.
@DJredditer Thanks for sharing that link! I'll definitely take a look at it. In your opinion, does the higher base frequency and faster single-core turbo boost of the 10600K give it an advantage in multi-threading performance?
From what I understand, multi-threading performance is more dependent on the number of cores and threads than the individual core frequencies. So, while the 10600K may have a higher base frequency and faster single-core turbo boost, the i5-11400's 6 cores should still be able to handle most multi-threaded tasks well.
That makes sense. I've been using an i5-10600K for a few months now, and I've noticed that it performs well in both single-threaded and multi-threaded tasks. However, I'm not sure if the additional cores of the i5-11400 would make a significant difference for my specific use case.
@GameBoyAde Good to know! After reading the TechReviewer article Intel Core i5-11400 vs. Intel Core i5-10600K, it seems that the 10600K has better multi-threading performance due to its higher base frequency and faster single-core turbo boost. However, the i5-11400 still has a decent multi-threading performance for general use cases.
@klay2010 Exactly! It's always good to consider your specific needs when choosing a CPU. If you're mostly using software that benefits from more cores, then the i5-11400 might be the better choice. However, if you prioritize single-threaded performance or plan to overclock, the i5-10600K could be a better fit.
@Danny0402 Thanks for your input! I think I'll go with the i5-10600K based on its overall performance, including multi-threading. I just hope my limited desk space doesn't become an issue when it arrives!
No problem, @klay2010. Good luck with your new build! And remember, if you ever have questions about CPUs or any other tech-related topics, the TechReviewer community is here to help. Happy building!
