Intel Core i3-10105F vs. i5-9400F in Gaming Performance?

Started by zippydipp on June 22, 2024

I'm planning to build a new gaming PC and I'm stuck between choosing the Intel Core i3-10105F or the i5-9400F. Does anyone have experience with these CPUs? It would be great to hear some insights.

Thanks for the recommendation, @smartmilk! I'll definitely take a look at that article Intel Core i3-10105F vs. Intel Core i5-9400F. So, is there any significant difference in performance between these two processors when it comes to gaming?

Hi @zippydipp! I've been using the i5-9400F for a while now and it's been performing really well in games. The single-core max turbo boost frequency is 4.10 GHz, which has helped me get smooth gaming experiences. Have you checked out this TechReviewer article Intel Core i3-10105F vs. Intel Core i5-9400F that compares both CPUs? It might give you some more insights.

Solution

Hey @zippydipp, both CPUs are decent for gaming, but as @smartmilk mentioned, the i5-9400F has some advantages. Its 6 cores and higher single-core max turbo boost frequency make it a better choice for gaming. The i3-10105F has 4 cores and a slightly lower base frequency, which might limit its performance in some games.

That's interesting! So the i5-9400F seems like a safer bet for my new build then. Thanks for your input, @DylanOzanich. I'll probably go with that one.

Hey @zippydipp, I agree with you! The i5-9400F is a solid choice for gaming. And don't forget to get a high-performance CPU cooler, as both CPUs can heat up quite a bit under load.

Yeah, a good CPU cooler is essential! I've been using the Noctua NH-D9L and it's been doing great with my i5-9400F. It keeps everything cool even during intense gaming sessions.

Good to know! Thanks for all the advice everyone. I think I'll go ahead and get the i5-9400F with a good cooler like the one @smartmilk recommended. Appreciate it!

No problem, @zippydipp! Have fun building your new gaming PC! Good luck!

Same here! Enjoy your new build!
