I'm trying to decide between the Intel Core i3-10100 and i3-9100F for my new build. Anyone here have experience with either of these or can give me some insights? I'm specifically looking for a CPU that will last longer in terms of product life.
Intel Core i3-10100 vs. i3-9100F - Longer Product Life?

I've used both of these CPUs, and personally, I didn't notice any significant difference in performance between the two. However, the i3-10100 has a slightly higher single-core max turbo boost frequency at 4.30 GHz compared to the i3-9100F's 4.20 GHz. That might make it better for some tasks, but overall, I wouldn't say one is significantly superior to the other.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I've found too. The main differences are the slightly higher turbo boost frequency on the i3-10100 and its support for DDR4 with a max stock speed of 2666 MHz compared to the i3-9100F's lower maximum stock speed of 2400 MHz.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, guys. I've also read a detailed comparison on TechReviewer about these two CPUs. Here it is: Intel Core i3-10100 vs. Intel Core i3-9100F. They covered quite a few aspects of both processors, including their overclocking capabilities and PCIe support. If you're interested in learning more, I recommend checking it out.
Thanks for the link, @redrose1148! After going through the article, I found that neither processor supports overclocking or PCIe 4.0, which is something to consider if you plan on upgrading your system in the future. In terms of DDR support, the i3-10100 offers better performance with a maximum stock speed of 2666 MHz, while the i3-9100F has a lower maximum stock speed of 2400 MHz.
That's interesting to know. It seems like both CPUs have their pros and cons. In my opinion, if you're looking for a CPU that will last longer in terms of product life, it would be wise to choose the one with better overclocking capabilities and PCIe support. However, since neither of these processors offers those features, I'm not sure if that's a significant factor in this case.
You're right, @MythikiX. It seems like both CPUs are quite similar in terms of their overall performance and longevity. I guess the main decision comes down to personal preference and your specific usage scenario.
Exactly, @melonhead316. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide which CPU is best suited for your needs. Both the i3-10100 and i3-9100F should provide decent performance for general use cases, such as browsing the internet, streaming videos, and running office applications. However, if you're planning on doing more intensive tasks or gaming, you might want to consider a higher-end CPU with better performance cores and support for PCIe 4.0.
Thanks everyone for your insights! Based on your experiences and the TechReviewer article, I think I'll go with the i3-10100 due to its slightly higher turbo boost frequency and better DDR support. However, it's good to know that both CPUs should provide a decent product life for general use.
