Ideal RAM Brand for i5-9500F?

Started by friendlyturtle on May 05, 2024

I recently bought an Intel Core i5-9500F CPU and am looking to get some new RAM. Can you guys suggest the best brand or model for this CPU? I'm not too familiar with different types of RAM.

For your i5-9500F, you'll want to go with DDR4 RAM since it's compatible. Corsair and G.Skill are both reputable brands that offer great options.

Yeah, I've heard good things about Corsair. Their Vengeance RGB Pro 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM is a popular choice for gamers, but it's stock speed. You might also want to consider the Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600 MHz DDR4 RAM if you're looking to overclock.

Solution

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm leaning towards the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2666 MHz. Does it have good compatibility with my i5-9500F?

Yes, it should be compatible. The memory timings will automatically adjust to your CPU's speed when you boot up your computer.

I've used both Corsair and G.Skill RAM in the past, and they're great options. Personally, I prefer the G.Skill Ripjaws V series for its low latency. It might be worth checking out if you haven't already.

Good to know! I'll look into it. How does it compare in terms of overclocking potential with the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro?

The G.Skill Ripjaws V series is also a good option for overclocking, but it's not as well-known as the Corsair brand. It really comes down to personal preference and what you feel more comfortable using.

I've had decent luck with overclocking my G.Skill RAM, but it wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped. Maybe give both a try and see which one works best for your setup?

That's a good idea. Thanks for the advice! I'll check out both options and see what works best for my needs.

Sounds like a plan! Just remember to keep an eye on temperatures when overclocking, as that can be a potential issue with RAM modules.

Definitely! And don't forget to monitor your system's stability while testing different RAM configurations. Good luck!

Thanks for all the helpful advice! I'll make sure to test everything thoroughly before making my final decision.
