I'm looking for an ideal AMD Ryzen processor for a multi-monitor setup. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Ideal AMD Ryzen Processor for Multi-Monitor Setup?
Started by Bigwill85 on June 20, 2024
I've been using the Ryzen 9 5950X for my setup and it works great! You can check out more details in this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 9 5950X vs. AMD Ryzen 9 3950X.
That's interesting, @@ignatiousp. The 5950X seems like a powerful processor. What about the 3950X? Are there any significant differences between the two?
Both the Ryzen 9 5950X and the 3950X are excellent choices for a multi-monitor setup. They each have 16 cores, 32 threads, and 64 MB L3 cache. The main differences lie in base frequency (3.4 GHz for 5950X vs. 3.5 GHz for 3950X) and single-core max boost frequency (4.9 GHz for 5950X vs. 4.7 GHz for 3950X). Both support DDR4 with a max stock speed of 3200 MHz and PCIe 4.0, providing excellent performance for gaming, general apps, and professional tools. It really depends on your budget and what you prioritize more - I personally prefer the 5950X for its higher boost frequency.
That's helpful, @@cottonmouthbob. I think I might go with the 5950X since it has a better single-core max boost frequency. Thanks for the advice!
Great choice, @@Bigwill85! Just make sure you have a good high-end cooler to maintain those frequencies. Let me know if you need any more help.
I've been using the 3950X and it's also great for my multi-monitor setup. The performance difference between the two isn't too significant in most cases, so pick whichever one suits your budget better.
Thanks for sharing your experience, @@buzzorotto. I think I'm leaning more towards the 5950X based on the boost frequency and your advice here.
