i9-14900K vs. i7-13700KF Multi-Thread Performance?

Started by TheDachshundLord on July 10, 2024

I'm looking at getting a new CPU and am torn between the i9-14900K and the i7-13700KF. Has anyone here compared their multi-thread performance?

@TheDachshundLord That's a good plan! And if you're interested in learning more about these CPUs, there's an article on TechReviewer that can help - Intel Core i9-14900K vs. Intel Core i7-13700KF.

Hey @TheDachshundLord, both CPUs are excellent choices for most tasks, but if you're looking to maximize multi-threaded performance, then the i9-14900K would be a better option. It has more cores and threads which makes it ideal for workloads that require parallel processing.

Good point @Markoezz. Additionally, there's an article on TechReviewer that discusses this in detail. You can find it at Intel Core i9-14900K vs. Intel Core i7-13700KF.

I didn't expect to get such helpful feedback so quickly. That's great to know about the i9-14900K. Can you guys tell me a bit more about how many threads are usually enough for general use?

For most people, 8 threads should be sufficient for everyday tasks and general applications. However, if you're into heavy multitasking or video editing, having more threads can make a difference.

Yeah, I agree with @SmokinActuary. If you do a lot of video editing or use software that can take advantage of multiple cores, then the i9-14900K's 32 threads might be worth the extra investment. But if you're mostly browsing the web and watching videos on your computer, 16 threads like in the i7-13700KF should suffice.

Thanks for all the advice! I guess it really depends on what I want to use my new CPU for. I'm more into gaming and video editing, so maybe I'll go for the i9-14900K.
