Hey, I've been looking at the LG 86" QNED80A series TV and was wondering if anyone has some insight into its HDMI port capabilities? I'm specifically curious about the refresh rate and support for VRR and eARC.
HDMI Port Capabilities on LG 86" QNED80A TV?

Yeah, I have that TV and it's amazing. As for your question, the TV supports HDMI 2.1 with a total of two HDMI 2.1 ports and two HDMI 2.0 ports. The refresh rate is 120 Hz, which is great for smoother motion handling.
Thanks for the info! I also wanted to share an article about it that might be useful. Check it out at HDMI Capabilities of the LG 86" QNED80A series TV. It discusses HDMI capabilities of the TV in detail and recommends some cables for optimal performance.
That's really helpful, thanks for sharing! So if I understand correctly, it supports both VRR and eARC?
Yes, that's right. The LG 86" QNED80A series does support both Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC). VRR eliminates screen tearing and stuttering for a smoother gaming experience, while eARC improves audio support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
I've been looking at the Anker 8K HDMI 2.1 Cable for this TV. Has anyone used it before? I'm worried about compatibility issues.
I have used the Anker 8K HDMI 2.1 Cable with my LG 86" QNED80A series TV and had no problems at all. It's a reliable cable, and I didn't experience any compatibility issues.
Great to know! I'll probably go ahead and get that one then. Thanks for the input!
One last question - is the 120 Hz refresh rate noticeable in everyday use, or would a 60 Hz TV be enough for most people?
That's a good question. For fast-paced content like sports or gaming, the 120 Hz refresh rate is definitely noticeable and provides a smoother experience. However, if you mostly watch slower-paced content like movies and TV shows, you probably won't notice much difference between a 60 Hz and 120 Hz TV.
Thanks for all the advice! I think I'll go ahead and get the LG 86" QNED80A series TV. It seems like a great choice!
