I'm looking to upgrade my gaming monitor and am currently considering between the Gigabyte G34WQC A and AOC CU34G2X. I would appreciate any advice on which one might be better for gaming. Has anyone had experience with these models?
Gigabyte G34WQC A vs. AOC CU34G2X - Better for Gaming?

Hi @KingDandelion, both the Gigabyte G34WQC A and AOC CU34G2X are excellent choices for a gaming monitor. I've used both and found that they offer smooth gameplay due to their 144Hz refresh rates and 1ms response times. However, the G34WQC A has better color capabilities with 90% DCI-P3 compared to the CU34G2X's 100% SRGB. The TechReviewer article Gigabyte 34" G34WQC A vs. AOC 34" CU34G2X discusses these monitors in detail. I would recommend checking it out for a more comprehensive comparison.
@waynepreno! That's really helpful. The color capabilities are an important factor for me since I do some graphic design work alongside gaming. What about the display panel types? Are they both VA?
Yes, that's correct! Both the Gigabyte G34WQC A and AOC CU34G2X use the VA panel type, which is known for its good contrast ratio and wide viewing angles. This should work well for your graphic design work as well as gaming.
Great to know! I'm also concerned about space on my desk since I have a small one. The difference in size between the two monitors is quite significant (34 inches vs 34 inches). Does the CU34G2X take up more space?
Hi @KingDandelion, while both the Gigabyte G34WQC A and AOC CU34G2X are ultra-wide monitors, the AOC CU34G2X has a slightly larger vertical field of view which might be an advantage if you frequently use multiple windows side by side. However, if desk space is a major concern for you, the difference in size might not be significant enough to sway your decision.
@lizz0188! It's good to know that the difference isn't too drastic. I'll have to think about how important that extra vertical space would be for me. Is there anything else I should consider?
One more thing to consider is the input lag. The Gigabyte G34WQC A and AOC CU34G2X have an input lag of around 10ms, which should be acceptable for most gamers. However, if you're planning on using your monitor for professional gaming or content creation, you might want to look into monitors with lower input lag.
That's useful information, @waynepreno. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for all the advice! I think I'll read more about these two models and make a decision soon. Hopefully, there won't be any significant differences in performance between them.
Good luck with your decision, @KingDandelion! Both monitors are great choices, and you can't go wrong either way. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask us here. Happy gaming!
