I've been considering getting a Core i3-10100 CPU for gaming. Can anyone share their experiences with this processor?

Yeah, I agree with that. The 4 cores do seem to be limiting factor, but I'm still getting smooth gameplay on most titles. I guess having a good graphics card helps too. Oh, and there's a TechReviewer article about this CPU that might be helpful for you Is the Core i3-10100 CPU Good for Gaming?.

I got the Core i3-10100 last month and it's working great for me so far. I'm able to run most of my games at high settings without any issues.

That's good to hear, @CaptainCorn13. I've been looking into the performance of this CPU for gaming. According to an article on TechReviewer, it has a 4.30 GHz single-core max turbo boost frequency which is excellent for gaming. However, it also mentions that its 4 cores allow for mediocre performance with the latest graphics-intense games.

Solution

Thanks for the input, @CaptainCorn13. I'll check out that article. So do you think it would be enough for running games smoothly on high settings most of the time?

It really depends on the game and its requirements. Some games will run smoothly even with a mediocre core count like 4, while others may struggle. It's also important to consider other factors like RAM, GPU, and cooling.

True, those are all significant factors in gaming performance. Personally, I haven't experienced any issues running games at high settings on my Core i3-10100. But then again, I'm not playing the latest graphically-intensive titles.

I've been using a Core i3-10100 for about six months now and it's worked well for me in casual gaming. However, when I tried to run some more demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Fortnite at high settings, I found that the CPU was a bit limiting.

That's interesting to know, @Nullcrass. So would you recommend getting a different processor if you're planning on playing those kinds of games?

It really depends on your budget and what other components you have. If you can afford it, upgrading the CPU might be worthwhile. But if not, you could always try optimizing your settings or using a lower resolution to get better performance.

Good advice, @Infamouskiwi59. I guess it's all about finding the right balance between cost and performance.

Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone. I think I'll do some more research and maybe even build a budget to see if I can afford an upgrade in the future. But for now, I'm gonna stick with my Core i3-10100 and see how it goes.

That's a wise plan, @HamAndCheeseToasty. Good luck with your CPU!

Same here, best of luck!
