Factors to Consider for Beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO DAC & Amp?

Started by JuzJungler on June 19, 2024

I recently bought the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO headphones and I'm looking for a good DAC & Amp setup. Can anyone recommend me something? I've seen that some people have had great results with using a DAC amp for these headphones.

Hey @JuzJungler, I used to own the DT 1770 PRO and found that using a DAC amp made a huge difference in the sound quality! I personally liked the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M. But you might want to look at this TechReviewer article Best DACs With Amps for Beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO Headphones for more options.

@JuzJungler, I'm not an expert but I do have the ARC Mk2 DAC amp and it works well with my DT 1770 PROs. It's a good mid-range option if you're looking for something that's not too expensive.

@OlympianDWill and @HarvestSweet, those links look really helpful. I'm leaning towards the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M after reading your recommendation, @HarvestSweet. But I also want to check out the ARC Mk2, @billyshpilkis.

Hey @JuzJungler, I have a friend who owns the DT 1770 PRO and he loves using the Cambrigde Audio DacMagic 200M. He swears by it! It really does make a difference in the sound quality.

Yeah, you should definitely give it a try, @JuzJungler. Just keep in mind that DAC amps can take some time to break in, so you might not notice the full potential until after about 50-60 hours of use.

That's true, @OlympianDWill, breaking in a DAC amp does make a difference. And don't forget to check out the TechReviewer article for more options like I mentioned earlier. You won't regret it!

Agreed! @OlympianDWill and @HarvestSweet are right about the break-in period. Good luck with your search, @JuzJungler. Let us know what you decide!

Thanks everyone for your advice! I think I'll go ahead and try out the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M based on most people's recommendations here. I'll report back once I've used it for a while.
