I've been looking into getting a new gaming monitor and came across the Dell Alienware AW3420DW and the LG 34GN850-B. Can you give me some advice on which one would be better for image quality?

I've done some research on these two monitors, and there's an article that compares them in detail. You can check it out here Dell 34" Alienware AW3420DW vs. LG 34" 34GN850-B. The TechReviewer article discusses how the LG 34GN850-B offers better image quality for gaming due to its higher refresh rate (144 Hz) and faster response time (1 ms) compared to the Dell Alienware AW3420DW's refresh rate of 120 Hz and response time of 2 ms. I think that this comparison aligns with what @stephenseifert has mentioned in their experience.

The Dell Alienware AW3420DW has a good refresh rate of 120Hz, but it has a response time of 2ms. On the other hand, the LG 34GN850-B has an even higher refresh rate of 144Hz and a faster response time of just 1ms. That being said, I would lean towards the LG 34GN850-B for gaming due to its superior performance metrics.

@palmettoquinn makes a good point. I've been using the LG 34GN850-B for a while now and it's fantastic! The higher refresh rate really does make a difference in gaming, especially in fast-paced games like FPS shooters. It also handles motion better than my previous monitor.

Solution

Thanks for sharing that article, @MatryxMercy. It's really helpful! So, based on the responses here and the article, it seems like the LG 34GN850-B is the better choice for image quality in gaming. I'll definitely consider that when making my decision.

Yeah, I agree with you, @MischiefTulip. The higher refresh rate and faster response time of the LG 34GN850-B are key factors to consider when looking for a monitor with good image quality for gaming. Plus, as @stephenseifert mentioned, it handles motion really well too.

I've been using both monitors and they're great in their own right. The Dell Alienware AW3420DW has its charm with a wider color gamut and more connectivity options. But ultimately, for gaming, the LG 34GN850-B's superior refresh rate and response time do make a difference. It really comes down to personal preference, but I'd recommend trying both out if you can.

That's good to know, @eightleggedrabbit. It seems like both monitors have their strengths, but for gaming purposes, the LG 34GN850-B has an edge. I'll definitely keep that in mind when making my decision. Thanks everyone for your input!
