Both monitors have excellent refresh rates, but if you're going to play fast-paced games like FPS or racing games, I'd recommend the Dell Alienware AW2720HF with its 240 Hz refresh rate. That's a significant difference from the LG 27GL850-B's 144 Hz.

Solution

Thanks for the link! I'll check it out. From what you said, I understand that higher refresh rate is better for fast-paced games. However, does having a higher resolution on the LG 27GL850-B make a significant difference in gameplay?

Higher resolution definitely adds to the immersive experience, but it also requires more GPU power. If your current setup can handle 2560x1440 resolution smoothly, then go for the LG 27GL850-B. Otherwise, you might want to stick with the lower resolution of the Dell Alienware AW2720HF.

I've used both of these monitors before and I can say that the 240 Hz refresh rate on the Alienware AW2720HF made a huge difference in my FPS games. I didn't notice any ghosting or input lag at all, but the LG 27GL850-B had better color accuracy.

That's helpful! I'm starting to lean towards the Dell Alienware AW2720HF because of its higher refresh rate. But isn't it true that a higher refresh rate can cause screen burn-in over time?

Screen burn-in is more of a concern for OLED monitors than IPS monitors like these. However, it's still something to keep in mind with any monitor if you plan on having static images on the screen for extended periods.

I recently switched from an older monitor to the Dell Alienware AW2720HF and I couldn't be happier! The response time and refresh rate make gaming feel so much smoother. In comparison, the LG 27GL850-B had a beautiful display but felt slightly laggy in fast-paced games.

Great to hear that you're enjoying your new monitor! I think I'll go ahead and order the Dell Alienware AW2720HF. Thanks everyone for the insights!

You won't regret it! Enjoy your new gaming setup!
