DAC Performance Comparison for Samson Z45 Headphones?

Started by appearancefnp on May 18, 2024

I recently bought the Samson Z45 headphones and I'm wondering which DAC amp would be best suited for them. Can anyone share some recommendations based on performance?

You guys mentioned TechReviewer article Best DACs With Amps for Samson Z45 Headphones discussing the best DAC amplifiers for Samson Z45 headphones. I just read it, and it was really informative. The article highlights how using a DAC amp can significantly improve audio quality for high-impedance and low-sensitivity headphones, as well as those with wider frequency ranges.

Hey, I've used a few different DAC amps with my Z45s, and I can tell you that the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M really improved the audio quality compared to using my computer's built-in DAC.

Agreed. The DacMagic 200M offers superior sound staging and clarity. However, it's a bit pricey for some people's taste.

I've been using the ARC Mk2 - Headphone Amplifier & DAC with my Z45s and I'm quite satisfied. It has a great midrange and is more affordable than the DacMagic 200M.

Solution

Thanks for sharing the link @ReassuranceRequired. Based on your experiences and that TechReviewer article, I'm leaning towards getting the DacMagic 200M. However, I still have a question - how does it compare to other DAC amps like the Schiit Modi Multibit?

I've never used the Schiit Modi Multibit myself, but I did read some reviews online that were quite positive about its performance. Some users even claimed it provided better sound quality than the DacMagic 200M.

That's interesting. I've seen those reviews as well, but it could be subjective since everyone has different preferences and hearing abilities.

I think it's worth trying out a few DAC amps to see which one suits your personal taste best. In the end, what matters most is that you enjoy listening to your music.

Good point @alexisdevaul. I guess I'll start with the DacMagic 200M and then try other options if I feel like it. Thanks for all the help!

@appearancefnp You're welcome! Enjoy your new DAC amp, and happy listening!
