I'm looking at getting a new CPU and am trying to decide between the Intel Core i7-10700 and the Intel Core i3-10100F. Has anyone here had experience with either of these CPUs in terms of temperature? I'd like something that runs cool for my small room.
CPU Temp Comparison: Intel Core i7-10700 vs. Intel Core i3-10100F?

Hi @Highlearning, I've been using an Intel Core i7-10700 for a while now, and it does run a bit warmer compared to the i3. However, it's not too bad and definitely manageable with proper cooling. The TechReviewer article Intel Core i7-10700 vs. Intel Core i3-10100F discusses temperature comparisons between different CPUs in more detail if you're interested.
I've used both the i7-10700 and i3-10100F, and I would say that the i3 is definitely cooler under load. That being said, the i7 still runs pretty cool for a high-end CPU. Just make sure to have a good cooling solution in place.
Thanks @Reeznov43 and @bcsilver. The article you mentioned, @Reeznov43, really helped me understand the differences in temperature between these two CPUs. I'm leaning more towards the i3 now because of the lower temps, but is there any significant performance difference between the two?
@Highlearning, both the i7-10700 and i3-10100F have their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to performance. The i7 has a higher core count, which can be beneficial for tasks that require multiple threads, like video editing or gaming. On the other hand, the i3 is better suited for everyday tasks and has better single-threaded performance.
Interesting points @lunalikeslasagna. I guess it all comes down to what I'll be using the CPU for most of the time. If I'm mostly browsing the web and streaming videos, would you recommend the i3 or the i7?
Based on your description, @Highlearning, it seems like the Intel Core i3-10100F might be a better fit for your needs. It runs cooler and has great single-threaded performance, which should be more than enough for browsing and streaming. However, if you think you'll need more power for gaming or video editing in the future, the i7 could be worth considering.
I agree with @Reeznov43. For your use case, it seems like the i3 would be the better choice. Just remember that cooling is still very important, even for cooler-running CPUs like the i3. A good quality air cooler or an AIO liquid cooler will ensure you don't run into temperature issues.
Thanks everyone for your input! I'll probably go with the Intel Core i3-10100F then, as it seems to be a better fit for my needs and will run cooler in my small room. I'll definitely invest in a good cooling solution too. Appreciate all the advice!
Glad to help, @Highlearning! Let me know if you have any other questions or need further recommendations.
