CPU Temp Comparison: Intel Core i5-12400 vs. Intel Core i5-9600K?

Started by loonie01 on May 29, 2024

I recently got an Intel Core i5-12400 and compared its temperature with my friend's Intel Core i5-9600K while running some demanding tasks. Has anyone else noticed a difference in temps between these two CPUs?

I actually found an article on TechReviewer that discusses CPU temperature differences between these two models in detail. The Intel Core i5-12400 vs. Intel Core i5-9600K reveals that while both CPUs perform similarly, the 12400 does tend to run cooler under heavy loads. This could be attributed to the improved thermal architecture or better cooling solutions.

That's interesting! I haven't personally done the comparison, but I can tell you from experience that each CPU model has its own thermal characteristics. The 12400 might have better cooling solutions or different architecture.

Yeah, the 12400 does seem to run a bit cooler than my 9600K under heavy loads. But it's hard to say if it's due to the architecture or some other factors.

Thanks for sharing, @stephenseifert. I was curious about this since my 12400 seems to stay quite cool even when running demanding tasks. It's nice to know that it's performing as expected.

That's great to hear! The lower temperatures should mean a longer lifespan for your CPU and less need for active cooling. Have you noticed any difference in performance or power consumption between the two models?

Not really, they both seem to perform well in day-to-day tasks and gaming. I did notice that my 12400 consumes slightly more power under heavy loads though. But overall, I'm happy with the choice I made.

Same here, there's not much of a difference in performance between the two CPUs. The only downside is that the 9600K can be overclocked, while the 12400 cannot.

That's true. It's good to know that both models offer decent performance and reliability for most users. If you're looking for a CPU that can be easily overclocked, the 9600K might still be a better choice.

Thanks for all the input! I'll keep that in mind if I decide to upgrade again in the future.
