@captdoppler, based on TechReviewer's article Is the Core i7-12700T CPU Good for Gaming?, it seems that the Core i7-12700T is a strong choice for gaming due to its 25 MB of L3 cache, 8 Performance cores and 4 Efficiency cores, as well as its support for DDR5 with a max stock speed of 4800 MHz. However, as @Buddhistwalrus mentioned, it does not have overclocking capabilities.

Hi @captdoppler, the Core i7-12700T is indeed a solid option for gaming. The TechReviewer article Is the Core i7-12700T CPU Good for Gaming? provides an in-depth analysis of its performance capabilities. It's got 8 Performance cores and 4 Efficiency cores, which should handle most games pretty well.

Yeah, I've been using the Core i7-12700T for a few months now and it performs great. My favorite aspect is the high turbo boost frequency, but make sure you have a good cooler as it can get quite hot.

I agree with @ridders103 that this CPU is good for gaming. I've also used it for some time and haven't encountered any issues. It's worth noting that it does lack overclocking support, which might be a bummer for some gamers who like to push their hardware to the limit.

Thanks for the input! So, considering its specs and performance, would you say this CPU is better than previous Intel CPUs in terms of gaming?

I'd say it's definitely on par with the best CPUs from previous generations. It has great cache size and a high turbo boost frequency, which should make it handle most games quite smoothly.

Solution

That's helpful to know. It seems the Core i7-12700T is more than capable for gaming. Now, I'm trying to decide between this CPU and a GPU upgrade. Any suggestions?

I'd say go with the CPU upgrade first since it will give you better overall performance in most games. But if your budget allows, getting both would definitely push your gaming experience to the next level.

Exactly what I did, and I'm really happy with my decision. The Core i7-12700T is a beast for sure!

Thanks everyone for the advice! I'll give it some thought and make a decision soon. Have a great day, all!
