Core i7-10700 Liquid Cooling TDP Issue?

Started by detalitum on July 10, 2024

I've been looking into building a PC with the Intel Core i7-10700 CPU and was wondering if anyone has experience with liquid cooling it. Has anyone run into any issues related to its TDP?

Hi @detalitum! I'm not an expert, but from my understanding, the 65 watts TDP shouldn't be a significant issue when using liquid cooling as long as your pump is powerful enough to handle the coolant flow. Have you checked out this TechReviewer article for more info? What Is the TDP of the Core i7-10700 CPU?

@Bullenbeisser, thanks for the link! I appreciate it. What about the max turbo TDP of 224 watts? Is that a concern with liquid cooling?

Hi @detalitum and @SupraRZ1999! The max turbo TDP isn't a problem either since liquid cooling systems are designed to handle high heat loads without any issues. Just make sure your radiator size is appropriate for the amount of heat generated by the 10700 CPU, and you should be good to go.

Hey all, just wanted to share my experience. I've been using a liquid cooling system with the i7-10700 for a while now, and it's been working great! The TDP hasn't been an issue at all. You can check out my build on my Twitter if you're interested.

@Bullenbeisser, @andysali13, and @wakeupsir, thanks for your input. It seems like liquid cooling is the way to go for this CPU. Now I just need to find a good power supply and case that will work well with it. Any recommendations?

@detalitum, you're welcome! For power supplies, I recommend checking out the Corsair AX1600i or the EVGA GD65 Power Supply Unit (PSU) for an 80 PLUS Titanium-rated PSU. As for cases, the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X or the Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic should provide great airflow and a well-designed layout.

@Bullenbeisser, thanks! I'll definitely look into those options. One last question - has anyone had any issues with liquid cooling in terms of noise? I'm really concerned about keeping my build as quiet as possible.

@SupraRZ1999, I've never had any noise problems with my liquid cooling setup. It's actually pretty quiet, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you're still concerned, you could always look into air cooling options or a lower profile all-in-one cooler.

@SupraRZ1999, to be honest, I didn't even notice the noise from my liquid cooling system until I was right next to it. It's really not an issue at all. Focus on the performance and efficiency benefits of liquid cooling instead!

Thanks for all your advice, everyone! I think I've learned enough to start building my PC now. I'll keep you posted on my progress and let you know if I have any more questions. Goodbye for now!
