Core i5-14400F for High-End Gaming?

CPU INTEL GAMING 14400F

I've been looking into getting a new CPU and came across the Intel Core i5-14400F. I'm wondering if it's good enough for high-end gaming. Has anyone tried it or have any experience with this processor?

Hi @thenanoguy, I've recently purchased the Intel Core i5-14400F, and I must say it performs quite well in gaming! The TechReviewer article Is the Core i5-14400F CPU Good for Gaming? has a detailed evaluation of its performance for high-end gaming. You might find it useful.

Yeah, I have the 14400F as well, and I can confirm that it's more than capable for high-end gaming. It has 6 Performance cores and 4 Efficiency cores which make it great for handling graphics-intensive games. The 20 MB of L3 cache also helps a lot!

That sounds promising! But does anyone know if this CPU supports overclocking? I'd like to be able to push my setup even further.

Hi @thenanoguy, the Core i5-14400F doesn't support overclocking, but it has a max turbo boost frequency of 4.70 GHz for its Performance cores which is excellent for performance in games. Make sure you have a high-end cooler though.

Good point about the turbo boost frequency, @SysAdminTW. Also, I think the DDR5 support with a max stock speed of 4800 MHz can be an advantage for gaming performance. Just make sure your RAM is compatible!

Thanks for all the input! One last question – does anyone have experience using this CPU in combination with PCIe 5.0? Is it beneficial for gaming?
