I've been thinking about getting a new CPU for gaming and came across the Core i5-10400F. Can anyone share their experiences with it? I'm particularly interested in how well it performs in modern games.
Core i5-10400F Performance in Modern Games?

Hey @Lurker-san, I just got one recently and it's been working great! The 6 cores are good for most of my games. You can check out a detailed review at Is the Core i5-10400F CPU Good for Gaming?.
Oh, that's awesome to hear, @feeseize! I was also wondering about the overclocking capabilities on this CPU. Anyone know if you can push it beyond its stock settings?
I've been using the Core i5-10400F for a few months now and it does well in most of my games. However, I do feel like it's lacking when it comes to PCIe 3.0 support and DDR4 speeds.
Thanks for all the input! So, @feeseize, did you try overclocking your CPU? And @MrsDempsey, what kind of games are you playing that seem to struggle a bit?
I haven't tried overclocking mine yet, @Lurker-san. But from what I've read online, it seems like the Core i5-10400F doesn't support overclocking.
That's correct, @effervescentadolesce, the 10400F does not have overclocking support. As for the games that seem to struggle a bit, I'd say anything graphics-intensive really. The CPU can handle them, but it seems like there's room for improvement with faster memory speeds and better PCIe support.
Just wanted to chime in here. I've been using my Core i5-10400F for about a month now, and while it does well in most games, I can definitely notice some lag when playing more graphics-intensive titles. However, the TechReviewer article Is the Core i5-10400F CPU Good for Gaming? has been really helpful in understanding why that might be happening.
Interesting, @Norfolkanchance. So do you think upgrading your RAM or getting a better GPU could help improve performance in those games?
That's possible, @effervescentadolesce. I've considered upgrading my RAM and GPU to see if it makes a difference. Hopefully, that will help me get smoother gameplay in those demanding titles.
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I'll definitely keep all this information in mind as I make my decision. Good luck with your upgrades, @MrsDempsey, and let us know how they go!
Will do, @Lurker-san. Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences and insights!
