I was looking into getting a new PC and came across the Core i3-9320 CPU. Is it any good for casual gaming? I've seen some mixed opinions online.
Core i3-9320 Performance for Casual Gamer?
Started by rockgamma on July 10, 2024
Hi @rockgamma, I haven't tried it personally, but from what I know, the Core i3-9320 has 4 cores and a base frequency of 3.70 GHz. That should be decent for casual gaming. Have you looked at the TechReviewer article Is the Core i3-9320 CPU Good for Gaming?? They have a detailed analysis on whether this CPU is good for gaming.
@dcknight00, thanks for sharing that link! I actually read it earlier today. According to the article, the Core i3-9320 has a 4.40 GHz single-core max turbo boost frequency which should be excellent for performance in the latest graphics-intense games. However, it does require a high-end cooler.
That's good to know! The 4.40 GHz turbo boost seems impressive. But @dcknight00, what do you think about its DDR4 support with a max stock speed of 2400 MHz and PCIe 3.0 support? Are they sufficient for casual gaming?
@rockgamma, the DDR4 support is not the best for gaming performance, but it should be okay for casual gaming. As for the PCIe 3.0 support, it's not ideal but it shouldn't limit your experience too much.
I've been using a Core i3-9320 for a few months now and it works fine for me in casual games. It might not be the best option if you're looking to play more intensive games, but for lighter titles, it's perfectly fine.
Thanks @dcknight00 and @suratmommy for your input! Based on what you've said, I think I'll give the Core i3-9320 a try for my casual gaming needs. I'll make sure to get a high-end cooler as well.
Just remember to keep an eye on temperatures and ensure proper cooling! Happy gaming!
