Connect Multiple Devices to Sony 65" X900H HDMI Port?

I recently bought a Sony 65" X900H TV and need some advice on connecting multiple devices to it. Can someone give me a few suggestions?

That's a great tip, @Chiefshow! It can definitely get confusing when you have several devices connected at once. Also, it's worth noting that if you want to take advantage of features like VRR and eARC, you'll need to make sure your devices support those features as well. Sure, @mikeyG92! The Sony 65" X900H has two HDMI 2.1 ports and two HDMI 2.0 ports, so you can connect up to four different devices using the available HDMI ports. For example, you could connect your gaming console, Blu-ray player, soundbar, and cable box all at once. Just make sure each device is properly connected to one of the HDMI ports on your TV.

@herrokatie has a good point! To add, it's also important to keep in mind that using multiple devices may require you to switch inputs on your TV remote when switching between them. I've found that labeling each HDMI port with a sticky note helps me remember which device is connected to which port.

Solution

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I appreciate it. So, is there any specific order in which I should connect my devices? Or does it matter as long as they're all connected to different HDMI ports?

There's no specific order for connecting your devices, @mikeyG92. As long as each device is plugged into a different HDMI port on your TV, you should be good to go! Just remember to switch inputs when using different devices.

Yeah, @mikeyG92, it doesn't matter in which order you connect your devices. However, if you're having any issues with connectivity or performance, try restarting each device and the TV, then reconnect them in case there was a temporary glitch.

Good advice, @Chiefshow! And always make sure your HDMI cables are securely connected to avoid signal loss or interruptions. I've had issues with loose cables before, so now I double-check that they're plugged in properly.

Thanks for the tips! This helps a lot. One more question - is it possible to use HDMI extenders if my devices are placed far from the TV?

Yes, @mikeyG92, you can use HDMI extenders if your devices are located some distance away from your TV. HDMI extenders allow you to run HDMI cables over longer distances by using additional equipment like repeaters or amplifiers. However, keep in mind that these solutions may add extra cost and complexity to your setup. Be sure to read the specifications of any HDMI extender you're considering to ensure it supports the bandwidth required for your devices.

@herrokatie is right! HDMI extenders can be a great solution if your devices are far from your TV, but they might not be the most cost-effective option. You could also consider using wireless HDMI solutions or even running new cables through your home's infrastructure, like behind walls or under floors, to connect your devices more directly.

Excellent suggestions, @Chiefshow! It's always worth exploring different options to find the best solution for your specific setup.
