I'm thinking of getting a new CPU for my 4K video editing setup. Can anyone help me out with some advice on whether the Intel Core i5-14400 can handle it? I've heard that the Core i9-10850K is better, but I don't know if it's worth the extra cost.

Hey @Bubbles0680, I've been using the Core i5-14400 for a couple of months now and it works great for 4K video editing. It's not the fastest CPU out there, but it gets the job done without any major hiccups. The only time I notice any slowdowns is when I'm working with really large files or doing multiple tasks at once.
@cherrryblssm, thanks for sharing your experience! I was considering the Core i9-10850K as well, but after hearing from you, I might just stick with the Core i5-14400. Are there any specific features of the i9 that would make it a better choice for video editing?
I've been reading up on this topic and found a great article at Intel Core i5-14400 vs. Intel Core i9-10850K that compares the two CPUs in detail. It seems that the Core i9-10850K has an advantage due to its 10-core count, higher base frequency, and single-core max turbo boost frequency, which can handle more demanding tasks such as professional video editing. However, the Core i5-14400 is still suitable for general use cases and might struggle with heavy workloads like 4K video editing.
Thanks @Patrick14 for sharing that article! So, it sounds like if I'm only doing light video editing, the Core i5-14400 should be fine. But if I plan on doing more demanding projects in the future, I might want to consider upgrading to the Core i9-10850K.
Yeah, @Bubbles0680, that's pretty much what I found out too. The i9 is definitely overkill for my current setup, but it's nice to know that I have the option to upgrade later if needed.
Exactly! It's always good to future-proof your setup a bit. Thanks everyone for the input!
