Better Multitasking CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-9700?

Started by b1llypilgrim on June 05, 2024

I'm trying to decide between the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and the Intel Core i7-9700 for my next build. I need a CPU that can handle multitasking well. Which one would you recommend? I've seen some comparisons online but it's hard to make up my mind.

@ethinker I agree with you, the Ryzen 7 3700X seems like the better option for multitasking. Plus, TechReviewer did an in-depth comparison that might help you make your decision. Check it out here: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X vs. Intel Core i7-9700. You'll get a better understanding of how these two CPUs compare.

Hey @b1llypilgrim, both CPUs are great, but if you're looking for better multitasking capabilities, the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X might be the way to go. It has a higher thread count (16 vs. 8) and a larger L3 cache (32 MB vs. 12 MB), which can help it handle more demanding tasks simultaneously and efficiently.

@jdthunderhawk Thanks for sharing the link! I'll definitely check it out. Just out of curiosity, does anyone have personal experience with either of these CPUs? Any insights would be appreciated.

Hey @b1llypilgrim, I've been using the Ryzen 7 3700X for a few months now and it's been fantastic. The multitasking capabilities are great, especially for running multiple applications without any slowdowns. I also like that it supports PCIe 4.0, which makes it future-proof to some extent.

@CardiacCatFan That's good to know! And @jdthunderhawk, thanks for the link. I'll definitely read up on the TechReviewer article. It's important to make an informed decision when investing in hardware.

@ethinker Absolutely, I don't want to end up regretting my choice. By the way, does anyone know if there are any other CPUs worth considering? I'm not opposed to looking at alternatives.

Hey @b1llypilgrim, if you're open to other options, you might want to consider the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. It has more cores and threads than the 3700X, which could be beneficial for even heavier multitasking workloads.

@SmokinActuary Good point! The Ryzen 9 3900X is also a great choice if you need more power for demanding tasks. However, it's also more expensive, so you'll have to weigh the benefits against the cost.

@jdthunderhawk, @SmokinActuary Thanks for your input. I'll definitely look into the Ryzen 9 3900X as well. This is turning out to be a tough decision! But I appreciate all the help and advice from everyone here.

No problem, @b1llypilgrim. Just remember that the best CPU for you will ultimately depend on your specific needs and budget. Take your time to research and make the choice that's right for you.

Exactly! And don't forget to have fun with your build, too! Happy building and feel free to ask more questions if you need help.

@ethinker, @CardiacCatFan guys. I'll keep that in mind as I continue my research. Have a great day!
