I recently bought a new TCL 55" TV (model S CLASS GOOGLE TV 55S450G) and I'm looking to get the best soundbar for surround sound. Has anyone here had any experience with soundbars they liked? I want something that can deliver immersive audio, especially for movies and gaming.
Best Soundbar for TCL 55S450G Surround Sound?

Hey @kwroblewski, welcome to the forum! I've been using a Sony HT-A5000 5.1.2ch Dolby Atmos Sound Bar Surround Sound Home Theater with my TCL TV, and it's amazing! The sound quality is top-notch, and it really enhances the audio experience for movies and gaming. You should definitely check it out!
Hi @kwroblewski, I have a Polk Audio Signa S4 Ultra-Slim Sound Bar connected to my TCL 55S450G TV, and it works great for me! It's not as advanced as the Sony HT-A5000, but it still delivers good sound quality and is more affordable. You might want to take a look at this TechReviewer article Best Soundbars for the TCL 55" 55S450G TV for some more recommendations.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys! The Sony HT-A5000 sounds like a great option. However, I'm short on desk space, so I'm also considering something slim and compact. What about the Polk Audio Signa S4? How's the size of it?
@kwroblewski, the Polk Audio Signa S4 is indeed quite slim and compact, making it an excellent choice for those with limited desk space. It's not as wide as some other soundbars, so you shouldn't have any issues placing it on your desk or TV stand.
I second what @jacobejacke said about the Polk Audio Signa S4. The slim design makes it a great option for tight spaces. But remember that while it's less pricey than the Sony HT-A5000, its features and sound quality might not be as advanced. It all depends on your budget and preferences.
Thanks for the info! I think I'll check out both options. By the way, does anyone have experience with adding subwoofers or wireless surround speakers to their setup? I'm curious if it makes a big difference in terms of audio quality.
@kwroblewski, I've used a subwoofer with my soundbar and it made a significant improvement to the bass and overall audio experience. It's definitely worth considering, especially for action movies or games where there's a lot of low-frequency effects. As for wireless surround speakers, I haven't personally tried them, but I've heard good things about their ability to create a more immersive soundfield.
That's useful advice, @IncredibleDest. I might go ahead and get a subwoofer then! By the way, how do you connect your soundbar to your TV? Do you use HDMI or optical cable?
@kwroblewski, I connected my Polk Audio Signa S4 to my TCL 55S450G using an optical cable. It works great for non-Dolby Atmos content, but if you plan on watching movies with Dolby Atmos, you'll need a soundbar that supports eARC or an HDMI cable to get the full experience.
I used an HDMI cable to connect my Sony HT-A5000 to my TV's HDMI ARC/eARC port. This way, I can pass through video and have the soundbar handle the audio decoding for Dolby Atmos content. It also allows me to control the volume with my TV remote.
Thanks everyone for your help! I think I'll start by trying out the Polk Audio Signa S4 and see how it goes. If I'm not satisfied, I can always upgrade to the Sony HT-A5000 later on. And yes, I'll definitely get a subwoofer to enhance the bass!
That's a great plan, @kwroblewski! Enjoy your new setup and let us know how you like it. Good luck with your TCL 55S450G TV and soundbar!
