Best Air Coolers for Ryzen 3 3300X?

Started by Bigdaddytownes on May 13, 2024

I've recently purchased a new AMD Ryzen 3 3300X CPU and am looking for the best air cooler to go with it. Any recommendations? I'm not sure if I want an air or liquid cooler yet, so I'd appreciate some advice.

Yeah, @Bigdaddytownes, I agree with @CptRavioli. Space shouldn't be an issue if you choose a compact air cooler. Another option to consider is the CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE LCD Liquid CPU Cooler. It's an AIO liquid cooler that has great cooling performance and lower noise levels, plus it comes with an LCD display! You can read more about it in this TechReviewer article Choosing the Best CPU Cooler for AMD's Ryzen 3 3300X.

Hi @Bigdaddytownes! For your Ryzen 3 3300X, you should definitely consider an air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15. It's a premium CPU cooler that can efficiently handle the peak TDP of 88 watts required by the Ryzen 3 3300X for optimal performance. Plus, it's pretty quiet and has great cooling performance. That sounds interesting! Thanks for the recommendation, @MathRamp. I've never actually used a liquid cooler before. What are some pros and cons of using an air or liquid cooler?

Hey @Bigdaddytownes, both air and liquid coolers have their own advantages and disadvantages. Air coolers are generally more affordable and require less space than liquid coolers. They're also easier to set up. On the other hand, liquid coolers provide better cooling performance and lower noise levels than air coolers. However, they can be a bit more expensive and may require more maintenance.

That's helpful, @stevierayblonde. I'm leaning towards an air cooler for now. I just have one concern: my gaming setup is in a small room and I don't want the air cooler to take up too much space. Are there any compact options available?

Hey @Bigdaddytownes! If you're concerned about space, you might want to check out some smaller air coolers like the Scythe Flow X-40 or the be quiet! Pure Rock Slim. Both of these coolers are great for small form factor builds and should fit nicely in your room.

Wow, @seifersam, the CORSAIR iCUE H150i sounds amazing! But I'm still unsure if it's worth spending more on a liquid cooler. Can anyone advise me on this?

@Bigdaddytownes, it really depends on your specific needs and budget. If you're looking for better cooling performance and lower noise levels, and don't mind paying a bit extra for an AIO liquid cooler, then the CORSAIR iCUE H150i could be worth it. However, if you're on a tighter budget and space isn't as much of an issue, an air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15 or Scythe Flow X-40 might be more suitable.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I think I'll try out an air cooler first and see how it goes. I appreciate your help!
