I'm considering buying a BenQ 27" GW2785TC monitor for gaming, but I've heard that it might have some screen uniformity issues. Can anyone provide insights into how this could affect my gaming experience?

Started by jrowberg on June 10, 2024
I've been using the BenQ 27" GW2785TC for a couple of months now, and I haven't noticed any major screen uniformity problems. The colors are vibrant, and I'm happy with the overall image quality.
Yeah, I've also had the BenQ 2785TC for about six months, and I don't think it has any significant uniformity issues. However, I did read a TechReviewer article Is the BenQ 27" GW2785TC Good for Gaming? that mentioned some potential problems with this monitor's screen uniformity in certain scenarios.
@JeffSchrembs Which specific scenarios were the issues observed in? Could you provide more details?
The TechReviewer article discussed cases where the edges of the screen, especially the top and bottom, could appear slightly darker than the center. It's not a deal-breaker, but it might be noticeable during dark or low-light gaming scenes.
@jimbojim1997 That doesn't sound great. I'm a competitive player, so having consistent brightness across the entire screen is crucial for me. Does this issue affect gameplay at all?
As @ECHOtheSound and @JeffSchrembs mentioned, I haven't experienced any major issues with my BenQ 27" GW2785TC in terms of screen uniformity. However, it's worth noting that individual experiences may vary, so it might be helpful to check out the TechReviewer article Is the BenQ 27" GW2785TC Good for Gaming? for more information.
@RenegadeBeaver, thank you for the input. I'll take a look at the article you mentioned and see if it's something I'm willing to overlook. How do you find the overall gaming experience with this monitor?
For my use case, I haven't encountered any significant problems with the screen uniformity of the BenQ 27" GW2785TC. The colors are accurate, and the response time is excellent. However, if you're extremely sensitive to screen uniformity issues or play in low-light conditions, it might be worth considering other options.
I agree with @ECHOtheSound. While I haven't experienced any major problems with the GW2785TC's screen uniformity, I can understand how it could be a concern for some gamers. Ultimately, it depends on your personal preferences and what you prioritize in a gaming monitor.
@JeffSchrembs, @ECHOtheSound Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the TechReviewer article and weigh my options before making a decision. Do you guys use any other settings or tools to mitigate potential uniformity issues, if any?
Some users have reported that adjusting the monitor's color settings can help alleviate uniformity problems. For example, turning on the 'dynamic contrast' feature or tweaking the brightness and contrast settings might make a difference.
@jimbojim1997 That's good to know. I'll experiment with different settings to see if it helps improve the screen uniformity. Thanks for all the insights!
You're welcome, @jrowberg. I hope you find the best monitor for your gaming needs. Good luck!
