B350 vs. B450 & X470 for Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G?

Started by Tappanhanock on May 19, 2024

I'm building a new computer with an AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G CPU and need some advice on which motherboard to choose. I've been looking at the B350, B450, and X470 chipsets, but I'm not sure if any of them will work well with my CPU. Can anyone help me out?

That's interesting. I came across an article on TechReviewer discussing this very topic. Here's the link to that article: Choosing the Best Motherboard for AMD's Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G. It might be helpful in making your decision.

Welcome, @Tappanhanock! The Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G should work with all three of those chipsets - B350, B450, and X470. However, the X470 chipset is our recommended choice for the best overall performance and future upgrade potential.

I'm also considering the B350 vs. B450. What are the differences between them? And how does the X470 compare to these two?

The main difference between B350 and B450 is that the B450 chipset has better CPU and memory overclocking capabilities, as well as support for faster DDR4 memory speeds. The B350, on the other hand, lacks some of these advanced features.

Solution

Thanks for sharing, @Sacellum! The article provides some great insights. After reading it, I'm leaning towards getting a B450 chipset motherboard. Do you have any recommendations?

Yes, the ASUS Prime B450-Plus is an excellent choice. It's affordable and offers great performance with ample features for most users.

I've also been looking at the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max. What are your thoughts on that one?

The MSI B450 Tomahawk Max is a solid option too. It has a sleek design, good cooling solution, and plenty of expansion options. However, it's slightly more expensive than the ASUS Prime B450-Plus.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check both out and decide based on my budget and preferences. Appreciate your help!

You're welcome, @Tappanhanock. Good luck with your build! If you have any questions or need more advice, feel free to ask.

Same here, @Tappanhanock. Enjoy your building experience!
