Amp Needed for Sony MDR-Z7M2?

I'm looking to buy some Sony MDR-Z7M2 headphones and I'm wondering if an amp is necessary. Can anyone chime in with their experience?

Hey, I'm @cryptolaxy and I've been researching DAC amps for the Sony MDR-Z7M2 headphones because of their impedance, sound pressure level, and frequency response. There's a great article on TechReviewer that covers this in detail. Check it out at Best DACs With Amps for Sony MDR-Z7M2 Headphones if you're interested! I found it really helpful.

I've been using the MDR-Z7M2 for a while now and haven't noticed any major improvements when using an amp. That being said, everyone's ears are different, so it might be worth trying one out to see if you like the difference!

Thanks @cryptolaxy, I'll definitely check that out! So, does anyone have any recommendations for specific DAC amps they've tried and liked with these headphones?

I've been using the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M with my MDR-Z7M2s and it's made a huge difference in the sound quality. Highly recommended!

That sounds great! Thanks for sharing @michaelnabil. I'll look into that one.

Just wanted to jump in and say that I used an ARC Mk2 with my MDR-Z7M2s, and it made a huge difference in the bass response. Worth trying if you're looking for some added oomph!

Thanks everyone for your input! It sounds like there might be some value in trying out different DAC amps to see which one works best for my personal taste and listening environment. Appreciate all the advice!

No problem, @TinkerTaylor4! Happy listening!
