Has anyone used the AMD Ryzen 9 7900 for video editing? I'm looking to upgrade and want some opinions on its performance.

I haven't personally used it, but I've read a TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 9 7900 vs. AMD Ryzen 7 3700X that compares the Ryzen 9 7900 and Ryzen 7 3700X. The 7900 has more cores, cache, and supports DDR5 which might be helpful for video editing tasks.

Yeah, I've been using the AMD Ryzen 9 7900 for a couple of months now. It's great for video editing! I've noticed that the extra core count really helps with rendering large videos, especially when using premiere pro.

That's awesome to hear! How do you like the DDR5 support? Does it make a big difference?

The DDR5 support is fantastic. It allows me to work with larger files and run multiple applications simultaneously without any slowdowns. Definitely worth the upgrade!

I'm considering getting either one, but I'm not sure if I need all those extra cores for my workflow. Any suggestions?

Well, it really depends on your specific needs. If you're frequently working with large files and multiple apps at once, the Ryzen 9 7900 might be better suited for you. But if you mainly use lighter applications, the Ryzen 7 3700X should still provide excellent performance.

I've been using the 3700X for a while now and it's served me well in video editing. It's more than enough for my needs. The only time I feel like I might need more power is when working with 8K footage, but that's still rare.

Good to know! Thanks everyone for the input. I'll have to think about it some more and see what fits my budget and needs best.
