AMD Ryzen 9 5900X vs. Intel Core i9-12900KF CPU Temperature Comparison?

Started by Desertgolf on June 16, 2024

I was considering getting either the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X or the Intel Core i9-12900KF for my new gaming setup, but I'm concerned about how hot these CPUs might get during heavy workloads. Has anyone experienced any temperature issues with either of these CPUs?

@Desertgolf Yes, as long as you have an adequate cooling system, both the Ryzen 9 5900X and Intel Core i9-12900KF should handle heavy workloads without overheating. The TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 9 5900X vs. Intel Core i9-12900KF also provides some recommendations for CPU coolers that are compatible with these CPUs.

Both the Ryzen 9 5900X and Intel Core i9-12900KF are known to run pretty hot under load, but they both have good cooling solutions available for them. You can check out a detailed comparison in this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 9 5900X vs. Intel Core i9-12900KF that discusses how well these CPUs handle temperature during heavy workloads.

Yeah, I've been using the Ryzen 9 5900X for a while now and it doesn't seem to have any issues with overheating. Just make sure you have a good cooling solution like the Noctua NH-U14S TR-SP3 or the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo installed.

I recently got an Intel Core i9-12900KF, and I can confirm that it runs quite warm during intense gaming sessions. But with proper cooling, there shouldn't be any issues. A liquid cooler like the NZXT Kraken X63 would be a good choice for this CPU.

Thanks for your input! So both CPUs are capable of handling heavy workloads without any temperature-related problems as long as I have a good cooling solution installed?

Solution

Exactly! Just make sure you keep your fans clean, and you should be good to go. Don't forget to monitor your CPU temperatures during gaming sessions using software like HWMonitor or Core Temp to ensure everything is running smoothly.

@lilwoodchuck Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely keep an eye on my CPU temps using those tools. So, regarding the Ryzen 9 5900X and Intel Core i9-12900KF, they both seem to perform well in terms of temperature, especially with a good cooling solution.

That's right! Both CPUs can handle heavy workloads without any major temperature issues if you have proper cooling. It ultimately comes down to personal preference, so choose the one that fits your budget and gaming requirements best. Good luck with your decision!

@coldblow85 Thanks for all the help! I appreciate it. It's helpful knowing that both CPUs can handle heavy workloads without temperature-related issues if I get a good cooling solution. Time to do more research and make my final choice!
