I'm looking to get a new CPU for video editing and came across the AMD Ryzen 9 5900 and Ryzen 9 3950X. Can anyone share their thoughts on which one would be better for this purpose?

Both of those CPUs are excellent choices for video editing. They both have high core counts, single-core performance, and good memory speed support.
That's true. I've used the Ryzen 9 5900 in my Alienware Aurora R10 Gaming Desktop and it works great. You can check out a detailed review here AMD Ryzen 9 5900 vs. AMD Ryzen 9 3950X.
Thanks for the suggestion! How does its performance compare to the Ryzen 9 3950X? Are there any significant differences between the two?
The main difference is that the Ryzen 9 5900 has 12 cores and the Ryzen 9 3950X has 16 cores. If you're working with high-resolution videos or doing lots of rendering, the extra cores on the 3950X could be beneficial.
I see. The 5900's single-core max boost frequency is also a bit higher than that of the 3950X, which can help with tasks that are more CPU-intensive.
I've used both CPUs for video editing and found them to be quite similar in performance. It really comes down to personal preference and your specific needs. The Ryzen 9 5900 is a bit more affordable too.
Great, thanks for the input! I'll definitely take all this information into consideration when making my decision.
